ROUND 10 OF SCAVENGING BEGINS!
Each month I will scour the interwebz looking for the best articles on public speaking.
I'll be looking for topics like these:
- Overcoming the fear of public speaking
- Presentation tips
- Body language and other technical speaking tips
- And anything in between...
I'm looking for the interesting, the fascinating, the practical, and anything with worthwhile information to help you become a better communicator.
The best of the freaking best!
The purpose is to save you time. A lot of what's out there can get repetitive and end up wasting your time.
Don't worry, though, I'm doing the scavenging so you don't have to. It will ALL be right here for you.
Grab a churro and get reading.
1. Top Ten Speaking Mistakes That Repel Prospective Clients
The title may be geared towards getting speaking gigs, but the tips are relevant for ANY speaking opportunity. The 10 tips come from a past Toastmasters World Champion of Public Speaking, Darren LaCroix. I suppose that means you should probably check them out. Here's the article on Forbes.com.
2. Zig Ziglar's Approach To The Fear of Public Speaking (3 TIPS)
If you don't know who Zig Ziglar is, you should. He's one of the most successful salesman of all time, but more than that, he is the bringer of inspiration. With his fame he has had to speak a lot. Though he is no longer with us, his speaking style is still one of my favorites. Bottom line, he knows a little something about dealing with speaking anxiety. Check out his approach here.
3. Can VR Help People Conquer Their Fear Of Heights And Public Speaking?
I've been keeping up on this because I believe it will be an excellent tool to overcome the fear of public speaking, and do it faster. Samsung seems to be at the forefront of this particular VR movement, so here's hoping they perfect it. Check out the article here.
4. Become A More Effective Public Speaker In 3 Simple Steps
One point in this article highlights the importance of getting a coach. It depends on your needs but it might just be right for your goals. The voice in particular is a tool that can be taught and improved. I personally have worked with a voice coach and it's one of the best investments I've ever made. See article here.
5. How To Fix A Stutter
I've never had a stutter, but I know it's a real struggle for many. I found this article interesting because it explains that cadence can help overcome a stutter. If nothing else, you'll learn something new. Check it out here.
That's it for this edition of Tactical Talks Top 5. If you have a worthy article, get in touch for a chance to have it featured in next month's edition. Until next time!
