ROUND 11 OF SCAVENGING BEGINS!

Each month I will scour the interwebz looking for the best articles on public speaking.

I'll be looking for topics like these:

  • Overcoming the fear of public speaking
  • Presentation tips
  • Body language and other technical speaking tips
  • And anything in between...

I'm looking for the interesting, the fascinating, the practical, and anything with worthwhile information to help you become a better communicator.

The best of the freaking best!

The purpose is to save you time. A lot of what's out there can get repetitive and end up wasting your time.

Don't worry, though, I'm doing the scavenging so you don't have to. It will ALL be right here for you.

Grab a churro and get reading.

1. Get Rid of Public Speaking Anxiety By Doing This 1 Thing

There are many methods that can be used to relieve the anxiety that public speaking so graciously creates in us. Ryan Foland's article describes a tip he received from his friend Daniel Midson-Short, an experienced speaker who has done so competitively. Based on the many methods I've successfully used, this one is sound. Remember, it's all about finding what works for you! Check out the article here and try it out.

2. 7 Research Hacks That Will Make You Speak With Authority

When it comes to speaking, we should know what the hell we're talking about. For this I usually recommend talking about subjects which you are passionate about and/or lessons learned in your own life. Sometimes, though, you need to dig a little deeper to explain your ideas. In those cases, here are some ways to research your topic. Check out the article by Ryan Foland (I know, I know, written by same guy as the article above. Both were good, what can I say?)

3. I've given over 1,000 presentations in the past 30 years — here are my 5 best public speaking tips

The title of article pretty much sums it up...Short and concise. 5 speaking tips that are pretty damn good. Here is the article from Business Insider

4. Unless You Have a Plan Free Public Speaking Won't Lead to Paid Gigs

Some want to speak for the sake of being able to. Some undertake public speaking for the confidence they'll gain from conquering their fears. Both are worthy reasons.

On the other hand, there are many that aspire to become professional speakers so that they can change the world and earn some cash at the same time. This article was written for those individuals. Appearing on Entrepreneur.com and written by Kimanzi Constable, check out the article here.

5. Federal Judge: The 7 Objectives for Every Professional Presentation

Now this one is a bit unique, but that's what I look for in articles that make it to the Tactical Talks Top 5. It's good to get away from the stuff that's been beaten by a dead horse with a sledge hammer many times over. That's what this is.

These tips come from Judge James D. Peterson of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin. In-depth and well-worth your time. Here is the article.

That's it for this edition of Tactical Talks Top 5. If you have a worthy article, get in touch for a chance to have it featured in next month's edition. Until next time!
