ROUND 5 OF SCAVENGING BEGINS!

Each month I will scour the interwebz looking for the best articles on public speaking.

I'll be looking for topics like these:

  • Overcoming the fear of public speaking
  • Presentation tips
  • Body language and other technical speaking tips
  • And anything in between...

I'm looking for the interesting, the fascinating, the practical, and anything with worthwhile information to help you become a better communicator.

The best of the freaking best!

The purpose is to save you time. A lot of what's out there can get repetitive and end up wasting your time.

Don't worry, though, I'm doing the scavenging so you don't have to. It will ALL be right here for you.

Grab a churro and get reading.

1. Tips On Nervousness From A Speaking Champ

Dananjaya Hettiarachchi, 2014 Toastmasters World Champion of Public Speaking, knows a bit about public speaking.

Actually, let's stop right here. If you haven't seen his winning speech, please go and do so right this very second. Chop chop. Click here for the YouTube link of his speech.

Okay, now for relevant article that goes over how he overcame his fear of public speaking.

2. EGO Gets The Attention It Deserves

Communications expert Nick Morgan published piece about the EGO and how it holds us back. He's absolutely right. The topic is important. I dedicated a post about the ego a few weeks back as well; it's definitely earned the spotlight considering how much trouble it can be.

Check out Nick's article here and check out his latest book, Power Cues

3. Funny Will Always Be In Style

So learn how to add it to your presentations!

This Forbes article by Adi Gaskell gives you tips on how to do just that. It's inspired by an extremely funny guy with an Irish accent, David Nihill. For more in depth on this funny business, you might want to check out David's book on the same subject, Do You Talk Funny?

4. BEST APPS To Get Better At Speaking

This article goes over the top apps that can help improve your speaking skills. Bookmark it and give the apps a shot. It's the digital age bro!

5. Awesome Infographic!

This one comes from Matt Abrahams who's a master of overcoming "Glossophobia." In fact, he's written an excellent book called Speaking Up Without Freaking Out that I highly recommend.

The infographic goes through various root causes for anxiety, but more importantly, tells you how to beat them. Check out the infographic here

Great stuff, Matt! The two I’ve watched and read so far were helpful and inspiring, and led to a collection of others I’m looking forward to reading. Thanks for gathering these up for the rest of us! On the other hand, if I no longer get any work done because I get caught up in learning, it’ll be your fault 😉 .
