Tactical Talks – The Beginning!

First off, let me start out by telling you who this website is NOT for:

  • It’s not for people who are perfect.
  • It’s not for those who are oblivious to their internal thoughts and fears about public speaking or any other challenges that stretch their comfort zones.
  • It’s not for those mythical souls who don’t fear public speaking…or claim to have never felt it.
  • It’s not for people who have zero desire to improve themselves.
  • It’s not for people who are unwilling to learn or put themselves in vulnerable situations in order to grow.

Okay. Got that out of the way. I’m Matt Kramer, how are you? Nice to meet ya! Mucho gusto. All that good stuff.

You see, most people fall into one or more of those categories listed above. It’s not to say they’re stuck there, not by a long shot. I was a prisoner of many (minus being perfect…darn it!) of those traits for most of my life. But I have since come out of the proverbial closet. I’m a full fledged…imperfect human being.

We can lie to everyone on the outside, most people do, whatever, no biggie. However, the one person that is unforgiving to these lies, is ourselves. The lies are life limiters. Or better yet, life preventers. They keep us nailed to the ground and prevent us from ever getting any life momentum. The momentum needed to pursue our real interests–our dreams.

Maybe it’s the fear of failure or the fear of living. We all have our reasons. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Now let’s go over who this website IS for:

  • It’s for people who want to share a message, or better yet, those brave souls that want to be able to communicate their story through public speaking.
  • It’s for those who want to build up their self-confidence.
  • It’s for those who are willing to suffer setbacks and internal pain associated with exiting the realm of comfort–a natural byproduct of personal growth. It’s inevitable.
  • Those that are honest with themselves and understand they don’t know everything. In fact, the more you learn, the quicker you find out that you don’t know jack.

My mission is this: To help people build the confidence to go after their goals and dreams in life. And I want to use public speaking as the tool to do this.

So what’s the main reason public speaking gets a bad rap? The answer is fear, stage fright, anxiety, nervousness, whatever…It’s all the same thing.

This is precisely why public speaking works as an extraordinary confidence boosting machine. It’s a challenge, and challenges make you stronger.

Here’s the big fat payoff though: Once you get the confidence, it’s yours. You own it. It isn’t something that only works during a public speaking sparring session. It’s portable. I’ve discovered this firsthand. I’m telling you, it’s REAL!

Public speaking dislodged me from my comfortable living. Sounds like a retirement home, right? Sorry to disappoint. It’s basically just a “same ol’ same ol’” deal. You know that conversation, buddy asks you “So what you been up to?” And your response, “Oh, you know, same ol’ same ol’. Just working and stuff” The word “stuff” just kinda trails off into the land of mumbles.

That’s what I mean by comfortable living.

It was never my intention in life to speak in front of an audience. And I mean never. It may not have ever been yours either; however, somehow you found out, as I did, that it’s a necessary evil. An essential ingredient for success in whatever industry or movement you’re a part of.

I remember the first time I spoke in front of an audience. It was tough. It was my first real experience with public speaking. And boy was my presentation horrific, the horrific-ness dwarfed only by my stage fright. The fear I felt exposed my lies, called my bluff so to speak. I’m referring to the lies I told myself–that I wasn’t scared, or that I didn’t care what others thought. I found out real quick that none of those were true. I was another word for a cat (think about it, it’ll come to ya).

It was physically and mentally draining. On the way home I felt like my brain was hit by battering ram operated by the Terminator. I wanted to quit so bad…

I kept at it though.

I’m glad I did. My life has completely changed as a result of sticking it out, and I owe it to the confidence that I earned through public speaking.

The good news for you is, I’ve walked through the valley of the shadow of death, and I brought back knowledge that will help you manage the fear sooner and more efficiently than I did when I first felt the wrath of public speaking.

I don’t want anyone to have to feel that sort of pain. It was dreadful.

So, on top of my mission to help people build confidence through public speaking, I also want to do it with the least amount of “pain” possible.

I ask that you stick with me like I did with public speaking. I promise to offer great information on how to become a better communicator, how to build confidence, an occasional laugh, and a lot of other random crap, too.
